Pavlov's Dog

I eat I eat my                          food is a body

clapper on copper                   flesh & pleasure

do you slobber                         at the bell too

white bowl white                walls white why

this coat is as                 hot a lie as

you stapled my              stomach outside

my skin our skin         is a limit

let the bell sing    my teeth wet

the grin in your   certain mind

let the bell sing

Shortlisted for The Plough Short Poem Competition 2018
